CCNP Security 300-206 (SENSS) – Introductory Post

If you have read this blog before you will notice that I have lots of stuff going on some good and some meh!, from Collaboration, Security, Enterprise Networks and some other stuff non-related to Cisco, which I recommend you checking out in case you are interested.
Initially, I started sharing my Journey to the CCIE Collaboration back in 2014. I completed my adventure last year (2016), and I’m very happy to say that I fully enjoyed the ride.
Now I would like to focus most of my posts on Security and on my ride on completing my CCNP Security following it up with the CCIE Security by the beginning of next year (hope it works). UC and Collaboration will still be playing a HUGE roll into my writing as I find it very fun! and I still have LOTS of pending posts and Videos

I’m very lucky since I’ve been exposed to multiple technologies the moment I started my IT career, so I’m not a stranger when it comes to Security, but I feel that I need to be stronger and more aware of the technology, to take a look at some previous posts visit the Security section –> which will be getting more love moving forward

The main idea of this post is to find fellow Engineers pushing the same goal in a very short term, so if you are going for your CCNP Security and are starting, or almost finishing, even if you completed it, I would like to get input from you!

So let’s get it started!

My Main Concern

I hope that this post is looked by the always very cool people from Cisco, or better yet from the Cisco Press team. As of today, there are no CCNP Security books for this exam 300-206 –> I mean, WE NEED THEM!! – whoever is out there and is behind this task, please give us an update. Not too mention that the only available book for the CCNP Security Series is the 300-208 (SISAS), which by the way is a great resource.

How to get prepared?

So I’d like to be as efficient as possible with the resources that I need to be able to get hands-on with practice and Labs. I’m building a starting point and hopefully some Workbooks that I will create myself during the week in order to prepare for the exam, and of course, if they are any good will share 🙂

The Main topics

What is the CCNP Security (SENSS), exam about?

I think that this exam hits the nail on the head when you are talking about hardening devices, and getting a good idea of basic operations to effectively implement security at your IOS/ASA-OS device. However I also think that this exam is missing some good introduction on Firepower Thread Defense, but I guess this is part of the SITCS Exam Topics –> which is actually material that I will be covering soon

What to Expect Next?

If you are still here and putting up with all the stuff I write about, I recommend you to keep your eyes open, there will be some technical stuff that I will be covering in the next 2 weeks before I even attempt the exam 🙂

Feel free to reach out on Social Media in case you have any questions, or looking for a Studying buddy 🙂
